Description
Volunteers of America is looking to hire a Housing Information Specialist for our HIV/AIDS program in the Baton Rouge area.

The Housing Information Specialist is responsible for housing referrals, housing search and assistance to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The Housing Information Specialist assists clients in completing housing applications, locating, and viewing affordable housing, and attending relevant trainings to remain current on ADA and Fair Housing Acts to prevent discrimination. The Housing Information Specialist also works to prevent discrimination in housing opportunities for those receiving support from HOPWA Services and maintains a Comprehensive Housing Guide to assist in locating housing. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Provide housing search and assistance to clients in need of (transport clients to visit potential apartment complexes, meetings/negotiations with landlords)
Assist clients in completing housing applications
Research affordable housing the in the 7-parish area
Provide budget counseling as needed
Provide housing counseling and fair housing information to clients
Conduct six and twelve month follow ups on all housing referrals
Maintain comprehensive housing resource guide
Provide housing information to clients of other providers
Attend relevant trainings and maintain information on ADA compliance and Fair Housing Act
Follow all guidelines & procedures related to EZ Labor (clocking in & out, reviewing timecard, requesting edit sheets, etc)
Maintain Training requirements
Report any significant concerns/incidents to supervisor
Projects and duties as assigned

Bachelors degree in Human Service field. Good computer communication, interpersonal, and writing skills required. Ability to work independently.
